ATTENTION! I wish to apologize for not getting everyones questions answered
in a timely fashion. We have been having extreme difficulties in retaining our Google
position which affects the bottom line to this website and have been preoccupied
with testing other methods to resolve our current crisis.
If anyone has a website and would care to give a link pointing to us that would be vastly appreciated.
As for the Q & A's, I plan in the near future of implimenting them in a Blog type
of form as many questions I receive are very similar in nature and those posting them
would benefit greatly from other questioneers before them. I also do not know the
answer to everything flying related, really I don't, but I think posting the Questions in a Blog
form whereby users can edit and answer questions I am unable to woule be a distinct advantage.

Again I wish to Thank You for Your Patience in this Very Trying Time.

Askapilot is a twenty year veteran of aviation. An Air Force ROTC member in
college led to 7 1/2 years of flying duties in the USAF piloting the KC-135 "Stratotanker"
and the T-37 "Tweet" as an Instructor Pilot. Following his Air Force years he has
proceeded to continue his pursuit of flying with a major US airline. To date he has flown
the Boeing 727, Boeing 757, and the Boeing 767, both domestically and internationally.

Subects in School, Do your very best

Yesterday, December 12, 2007, 10:02:04 AM
Question: Dear Ask a pilot man,

I want to ask a question I am sure you receive many times a day! Ever since I moved from my home in 1995
after the Yugoslav wars, I've always regarded airplanes like guardian angels and since then, I've had a
passion for flying. However, now at 19 and some money saved up, I want to know where to start.
A piloting school is well and good but do I need to take physics, math courses in college or specialized schools?
What do I need to know to become a competent pilot?
Answer: I suggest you do well in whatever subjects interest you the most. Sure, Science and Math are a help
but not a necessity. Do well in all areas is what I think best. Here is a great read
on becoming a pilot.

Job Prospects

Friday, December 07, 2007, 9:00:46 AM
Question: Hi, my name is Abdul and I'm 17 years old.
Since I was little I've been so interested in flying.
Actually, I want to be an international pilot but
people I talk to about it tell me that it is very
expensive to take the course and even when you finished
your training course and you are ready to apply for a
job, there is not much possibility that you'll get one
because firstly, there are a lot of people in the field
and secondly, most of the new planes are computarised and
programmed so there is not much need of employing.
Answer: Pilot employment is on the rise and demand is high and
is expected to continue for years to come. Just don't expect to
be hired right into the left seat on a top airline right out of
school. You need to start low and build your hours and experience
if you wish one of the top notch jobs. Best of Luck.

Degrees and Jobs

Question: Hello I'm a caribbean national and an aspiring pilot. I have two questions. 1) I want to get a degree when I finish High School next year, but I'm not sure which field. Any help there?
2) The aviation industry in the caribbean stinks badly and I was wondering where you think is the best place to start an aviation career (perhaps Dubai?) ?
Answer: I suggest you study what you enjoy the most and will do the best in. I have many friends that have been flying for years with every degree
under the sun, even music majors. As for hiring, I suggest looking at the following link. I have also heard that Emirates Air is and will be doing a great deal
of hiring for years to come. Best of Luck.
