Question: Hi, my name is Abdul and I'm 17 years old.
Since I was little I've been so interested in flying.
Actually, I want to be an international pilot but
people I talk to about it tell me that it is very
expensive to take the course and even when you finished
your training course and you are ready to apply for a
job, there is not much possibility that you'll get one
because firstly, there are a lot of people in the field
and secondly, most of the new planes are computarised and
programmed so there is not much need of employing.

Answer: Pilot employment is on the rise and demand is high and
is expected to continue for years to come. Just don't expect to
be hired right into the left seat on a top airline right out of
school. You need to start low and build your hours and experience
if you wish one of the top notch jobs. Best of Luck.

Question: I want to fly for a major airline someday,
and i have been looking online for more info but i find something diffrent on every other website.
i want to know what qualifications i need to get to fly for a major airline.

Answer: The reason you find something different is due to the fact that each airline has it's own
list of qualifications that vary from airline to airline. Pick several that you wish to apply for
and research them directly.

Degrees and Jobs

Question: Hello I'm a caribbean national and an aspiring pilot. I have two questions. 1) I want to get a degree when I finish High School next year, but I'm not sure which field. Any help there?
2) The aviation industry in the caribbean stinks badly and I was wondering where you think is the best place to start an aviation career (perhaps Dubai?) ?

Answer: I suggest you study what you enjoy the most and will do the best in. I have many friends that have been flying for years with every degree
under the sun, even music majors. As for hiring, I suggest looking at the following link. I have also heard that Emirates Air is and will be doing a great deal
of hiring for years to come. Best of Luck.

Vision Requirements and Short Sightedness

Question: I've got a phone call from Flight Crew Recruitment Office of Cathay Pacific two days before regarding the CX Cadet Pilot Programme and she told me I 've been selected for an initial test. However, I 've a serious short-sighted (about 750 degree short-sighted for both eyes) and I wonder whether I could be able to pass the physical fit test. Checking some websites related to this matter, wearing glasses should not be a problem provided that you have pairs of healthy eyes. How do I define the term of 'healthy eyes'. Besides, have you heard about the serious short-sighted people could become a pilot in aviation industry? Thank you in advance.

Answer: Best of Luck in your endeavors. Many short sighted people are pilots but of course different airlines
and countries have varying requirements. I would say it would be best to speak with a flight medical
examiner in your country and also peak with the medical department at the airline you are applying to.
